This month, we're delighted to shine our Employee Spotlight on Kira Pirtle, a dedicated Personal Lines Team Lead at our Monticello, IL office. Kira’s journey to Loman-Ray Insurance is filled with unique experiences and a passion for growth and community. Here’s a glimpse into her inspiring story and what makes her an invaluable part of our team.
Kira’s professional journey began in a rather unconventional setting. At the tender age of 13, she took her first job cleaning horse stalls in exchange for riding lessons at a local stable. It was more than just a job; it was a way of life. Kira fondly recalls, "I basically lived at the barn as a kid. I was covered in dirt most of the time, but I loved it, and those days are some of my favorite and most rewarding memories." Her time at the stable, where she was lovingly referred to as a “barn rat” was marked by hard work, friendship, and a deep love for horses.
Before venturing into insurance, Kira worked in the banking sector. The transition to insurance came naturally, influenced by friends and family who shared their positive experiences in the industry. She saw it as an opportunity to grow her knowledge in a field that is constantly evolving. The ever-changing nature of insurance fascinated Kira, and she was eager to be part of an industry that plays a crucial role in people’s lives and businesses.
Kira’s pride in her work is evident when she speaks about her time at Loman-Ray. "I am really just so proud of Loman-Ray and our entire team. I think we have a group of some really amazing people." She values the dedication and mutual respect within the team, which she believes sets Loman-Ray apart from the competition. The camaraderie and commitment of her colleagues are something she holds in high regard, contributing to the positive atmosphere that clients and communities appreciate.
When she’s not helping clients or supporting the Personal Lines team, Kira is busy with her favorite role—being a mom. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, whether it’s camping in the summer or snowboarding during the winter. "We try to get in as many snowboarding trips as possible during the winter months," she says, reflecting on her love for adventure and the outdoors.
Kira’s favorite childhood movie is "Dirty Dancing," which she admits she loved for the dancing, only realizing the movie's deeper themes when she watched it as an adult. She shares, "I had no idea what the movie was really about, I just thought they were really great dancers!"
As for travel, she dreams of visiting the Maldives. The picturesque bungalows and crystal-clear waters are a bucket-list destination for her, representing the ultimate escape and relaxation.
Kira Pirtle is not just a dedicated team lead at Loman-Ray; she’s a testament to the values of hard work, continuous learning, and community spirit. Her journey from a barn-loving teenager to a respected insurance professional is a source of inspiration for us all.
